TREND FORECASTING
The Self-Inspection Collection strives to break open the constraints of normal Silhouettes and gender stereotypes by encouraging self-expression through observation of one’s self. The primary inspiration is the Venus of Willendorf, as reimagined in works by Elizabeth Winnel and Martin Wittfooth. The Venus of Willendorf, one of humanity’s earliest known sculptures, is believed to have been created from the sculptor’s perspective—an intimate act of self-inspection, possibly capturing her pregnant form in clay. This notion of viewing oneself through a personal, exaggerated lens inspires the collection's silhouettes, which feature curvaceous lines and amplified proportions, echoing the distorted yet empowering representation of the human body.
Balenciaga’s legacy of pushing boundaries with avant-garde silhouettes is reflected in this collection's innovative designs, which celebrate individuality and challenge traditional ideals of beauty. The bold, feminine hues from the Venus paintings are translated into striking fabrics and patterns, bringing the collection to life with a vivid, expressive palette.
